FORSYS Framework v1.0: A Forensic Systematic Review Framework for Evaluating Validity, Reliability and Bias of Forensic Procedures, Methods, Techniques or Results

,

The FORSYS Framework is a tool designed to assist researchers, forensic practitioners, and legal stakeholders in conducting systematic literature reviews to evaluate the validity, reliability, and bias of forensic techniques and methods.

The tool is a domain-specific extension of the PRISMA protocol, incorporating a TECO framework (Trace, Examination, Context, and Outcome) instead of PICO (Patient, Intervention, Comparison/Control, and Outcome) in formulating research questions, screening included studies and synthesising findings from the literature.

The TECO framework was developed for this context because PICO concepts do not map directly to forensic research, making it difficult for researchers within the forensic field to design and implement robust systematic literature reviews. The pilot version of the FORSYS Framework is freely available for download, and feedback is welcome.
