2020 Forensic DNA Hit of the Year

The investigation of the infamous Brazilian criminal case dubbed the “Robbery of the Century” has been selected as the 2020 Forensic DNA Hit of the Year at the 6th Human Identification Solutions (HIDS) Conference. The recognition was announced by the Gordon Thomas Honeywell Governmental Affairs (GTH-GA).

“The case was selected from 50 cases submitted from 20 countries. It was chosen by a panel of seven international judges with career backgrounds in forensic DNA and law enforcement.”

The DNA Hit of the Year recognizes the contribution of forensic DNA analysis and databases to the investigation of modern crime. The 2020 case submissions covered a number of themes that demonstrated the wide range of applications of forensic DNA analysis, including investigation of murders and sexual assaults, missing persons and robbery.
